AR4U
Supporting active, healthy aging at home.
The AR4U project at Aalto University explores how technology can help older adults live independently at home for longer. As the global population ages, the demand for caregivers is rising while resources remain limited. Our goal is to develop solutions that empower older adults to manage daily routines on their own, improving their quality of life and extending their years of active living at home.
AR4U-project
Research-to-Business (R2B) project at Aalto University, Finland
AR4U is a Research-to-Business (R2B) project at Aalto University, Finland, focused on transforming academic research into commercial opportunities. This 18-month initiative, funded by Business Finland, aims to bridge the gap between research and real-world applications, bringing innovative solutions to market—including technologies that enhance the lives of older adults and support independent living.
VOICE-ASSISTANT
AI-Powered Voice Assistant for Older Adults
Our AI-driven voice assistant supports older adults with reminders, activity encouragement, and interactive assistance. It also serves as a companion, helping to reduce loneliness. The assistant can integrate with sensors and smart home devices, enabling seamless voice control. Additionally, it monitors well-being and alerts loved ones or healthcare professionals if significant changes occur.

SMART GLASSES
Augmented Reality Glasses: A New Way to Assist with Daily Tasks
We are exploring how AR glasses can support older adults in their daily lives. In the near future, lightweight AR spectacles—similar to regular eyeglasses—could provide real-time guidance, reminders, and interactive assistance for essential tasks. These glasses could help with meal preparation, medication management, personal care, and housekeeping, while also featuring a virtual companion to reduce loneliness.
